World Book and Copyright Day

23rd April is celebrated as World Book and Copyright Day. This yearly event is organized by UNESCO to 'pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors, encouraging everyine, in particular young people, to discover the pleasure of reading'. What's the connection beteewen 23rd april and books? It all started in Spain as a way to honour Miguel Cervantes (he died on that day). The day is also the anniversary of the birth and death of William Shakespeare. Various events are organized to celebrate this day. In our school we had a radio programme and we prepared an exhibition in the hall.

Although not all of us are bookworms, we agree with Ch. W. Eliot who wrote: "Books are the quietest and most constant of friends, they are the most accessible and wisests of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers".
